Graphic gap match interaction

A graphic gap match interaction question is created using an image with a number of defined gaps. The candidate answers the question by dragging images or text onto the graphic.

This question is marked automatically by the system.

Create item

  1. Follow the steps covered in the Creating a question section.
  2. Select Graphic Gap Match from the Type drop-down field.
  3. Complete the following:
    1. Enter the question into the Question Stem field.
    2. Choose an orientation from the Orientation drop-down field. This will determine if the missing words or images are dragged from above or below.
    3. Select the appropriate scoring option from the Scoring Type drop-down field. See the Scoring section to learn more about this. If choosing ‘Per Distractor’, you can also add a minimum and maximum score.
  4. Select the image icon to add an image and then draw the shapes around the areas that are to be drop zones. See the Inserting an image section for more information.

    Tip

    A Destination and a Source field displays for each area you draw.

    • The destination field refers the drop zones you created on the image using the shapes
    • The source field refers to the text or images the candidates drag to the created drop zones
  5. Complete the following:
    1. In the Destination section, identify each of the drop zones by giving them a label in the Text field. This is not displayed to the candidates, its only used to assist the question Author to identify the areas.
    2. Enter the maximum number of times each drop zone can be matched in the Match Max fields.
  6. Complete the information in the Source area to identify the matches for each drop zone location, the minimum and maximum number of matches for each item and the correct matches. See the Inserting a hotspot/drop zone section for more information.
  7. Select the Save Test Question button to save.
