Position object interaction

A position object interaction question requires a candidate to drag one or more images onto another larger image to position them in the correct location.

Tip

This question differs from a hotspot question as it does not display where the hotspots are on the image.

This question is marked automatically by the system.

Create item

  1. Follow the steps covered in the Creating a question section.
  2. Select Position object interaction from the Type drop-down field.
  3. Complete the following:
    1. Enter the question into the Question Stem field.
    2. Add a prompt (optional).
    3. Select the appropriate scoring option from the Scoring Type drop-down field. See the Scoring section to learn more about this. If choosing ‘Per Distractor’, you can also add a minimum and maximum score.
  4. Complete the following:
    1. Select the image icon to add the background image and then draw the shapes around the areas that are to be the drop zones for candidates to move the draggable images to. See the Inserting an image section for more information.
    2. In the Destination section, identify each of the drop zones by giving them a label in the Text field. This is not displayed to the candidates, its only used to assist the question Author to identify the areas.
  5. Complete the information in the Source area to identify the matches for each drop zone location (images), the minimum and maximum number of matches for each draggable item and the correct matches. See the Inserting a hotspot/drop zone section for more information.

    Tip

    Once you upload an image you can then set ALT text and the size you want the image displayed at (optional).

  6. Select the Save Test Question button to save.
